News or blog: what’s better for your site?

We all know that a corporate website must be more than an electronic brochure talking about the company. If your company wants a site, it must have at least one area where visitors can check the news of the corporation. But, what’s best, a News area or a Blog?

People are used to see the News area as a formal area and the Blog area as a more informal place. Our site, for example, uses Blog to talk to our customers and visitors. But in other cases we prefer the News section.

This idea of formality versus informality, however, doesn’t rule. A section of news can be very relaxed and a blog to be more formal. The ideal, however, is that each follow its own characteristics. The News, for example, are written in third person, always dated, with headline etc. The blog posts can be in the first person, should have space for comments, feeds RSS, etc.

Each project must be considered separately. All you have to do is identify what’s the profile of the company and what are its goals with the site. Only thus we can reach the conclusion about News, Blog or - who knows - both.
