Widgets, the next trend

Blogs, Myspace, Youtube, Twitter, what will be the new great web trend? This is a question that we do every single day and something tells me that we are at the stage of transition to a new big wave. The difference is that there will be a completely new service as were the blogs, social networks and microblogs, nor much less just another site bought by Google. This will spread like a plague all over the web. Whatever the social network or site there are the Widgets and this can change completely the concept of the site as we know today.

A survey by JupiterResearch shows that 39% of the online users are familiar with these small and powerful windows and 26% have used widgets. The survey also reveals that it is easier to get widgets with friends than with companies.

With the recent news about OpenID, OpenSocial, Facebook’s API and the basis of their profiles widgets, it is clear that the this trend is only at the beginning. You must be ready for the high personalization that the user is beginning to demand, as open to such convergence.
